Hi

Got a similar problem, my system [HP dv2000] laods up to the windows startup error screen with two options, (a) to perform startup repair (recommended) AND ( to start windows normally. Both options lead to the windows laoding bar scrolling thru then eventually only a blank screen. Waited for more than 2 hours but no change.

I've tried using a recovery cd to repair startup but it also hangs in the same way. What do i do please?
Thanks

Please...don't hijack someone's situation, it's far too easy to just start your own and forego the unnecessary confusion/irritation.

Now that you have you own topic...have you tried booting into safe mode?

SORRY abt the confusion/irritation.

I have tried logging in to safe mode with the same results, starts loading then hangs the same way!

If you can get to the Safe Mode menu, you might try and select Last Best Known Configuration.

See if that helps at all...

Started the system, kept hitting F8 to get to safe mode menu again, selected 'Last Known Good Configuration' like you sauggested. And same results, showed the windows loading files bar, then the Microsoft scrolling loading bar and alas the blank screen.
It's getting frustrating at this point. What do you suggest I try next? Thanx again.

Is there anyway out of this? I hope i don't have to do a clean install all over.

when you get to the Safe Mode menu, can you get to a command prompt?

I'm just taking a swing here, but if so, run "sfc /scannow" w/o the quotes.

Got to the safe mode menu, selected safe mode with command prompt. Started the windows loading scrolling and ended up the same way, jus a blank screen. Tried all the options, same results.
