I have Microsoft XP OS. I had one of those malware viruses a few weeks ago and I used malwarebytes to clean it up. However I noticed that when I try to search, the browser times out. I have tried it on IE, Flock, Firefox & Opera and all with the same result. For IE I get the message "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage"; For Flock I get this meesage "The connection has timed out. The server at search.yahoo.com is taking too long to respond." For Opera I get this message "Could not connect to remote server". Also I could not access google.com.
Could someone please help. Thx

Earlier this year my desktop was infected with spyware. I used mbam to get rid of it and has Norton security (via Comcast). But lately I've been noticing that after I have done a search and click on a link, it redirects to a different page. Sometimes when I search for google using firefox browser and click on the link, a message comes back for me to verify by typing in some numbers and letters on the screen. I am suspecting that my system is still infected. I have run the latest mbam but still has the same issue.
Could you please help.
My OS is XP.

Thanks.

Hello,

Please follow the instructions in ==>This Guide<==.

Once the proper logs are created, then make a NEW TOPIC and post it ==>HERE<==

If you can produce at least some of the logs, then please create the new topic. If you cannot produce any of the logs, then post back here and we will provide you with further instructions.

Pandy,

Last night I went through all the steps successfully except GMER. I was able to download GMER and extract and scan. However after about 45 mins my computer froze and nothing was happening. It would not let me bring up task manager. I had to do a hard shutdown.
I extracted GMER again and tried scanning a 2nd time and left it running overnight (about 6hrs). When I checked it this morning it seems it had frozen again and could not do anything. I tried clicking on the stop button but nothing happened. After waiting for about 30mins, I did a hard shutdown again.
What shoild I do next.
Thanks.

Hello,

Now that you have posted a log here: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic343712.html you should NOT make further changes to your computer (install/uninstall programs, use special fix tools, delete files, edit the registry, etc) unless advised by a MRT Team member, nor should you ask for help elsewhere. Doing so can result in system changes which may not show in the log you already posted. Further, any modifications you make on your own may cause confusion for the helper assisting you and could complicate the malware removal process which would extend the time it takes to clean your computer.

From this point on the MRT Team should be the only members that you take advice from, until they have verified your log as clean.

Please be patient. It may take a while to get a response because the MRT Team members are EXTREMELY busy working logs posted before yours. They are volunteers who will help you out as soon as possible. Once you have made your post and are waiting, please DO NOT make another reply until it has been responded to by a member of the MRT Team. Generally the staff checks the forum for postings that have 0 replies as this makes it easier for them to identify those who have not been helped. If you post another response there will be 1 reply. A team member, looking for a new log to work may assume another MRT Team member is already assisting you and not open the thread to respond.

Please be patient. It may take several days to get a response but your log will be reviewed and answered as soon as possible. I advise checking your topic once a day for responses as the e-mail notification system is unreliable.

To avoid confusion, I am closing this topic. Good luck with your log.
