Hi! So, I use windows XP, and currently have a wireless internet connection.
I have no problems connecting, and can get on the internet whenever...
But, for some reason, I have issues downloading things. It usually tells me I'm not connected to the internet.
For example I tried downloding the game Asda story, and I can't even begin the download because it says
"No internet connecvtivity detected. Please recconect and try again."
I'm connected, so I don't understand why this keeps happening. I even turned the box off and then back on.
Nothing. D;
What can I do? Is this a common problem?

What browser are you using?
Do you have pop ups blocked?

I use internet explorer. I tried with popup blocker off. ^^ I don't actually need the browser open. I already have the file on my desktop, but I can't start the download cuz of thta internet issue popup. ;^;

Edit: Actually I can't download any other browers either because of this connection issue. DX
Otherwise I'd probably be using firefox..

Edit again: Before having wireless I never had this issue. ._.

Check, if you have same problem, when hardwired.
See, if you have same problem in Safe Mode with Networking.

I'm afraid I don't know what you mean by hardwire.
Oh but wow! It's downloading the game now that I'm in safe mode with networking....
What does this mean? o__o

I don't know what you mean by hardwire

Using regular ethernet cable to connect your computer to the router (not wireless).

What does this mean? o__o

Most likely, some legit, or malicious program, which doesn't load in safe mode, is blocking your connection in normal mode.

I'd start with creating new topic in "Am I Infected?" forum to make sure, your computer is clean.

Ah I see. ^^

Ahh. I just got done there. D; I'd feel weird coming back already...
This has been going on for so long I have a hard time thinking it's a virus.

OK, I can see, that you initially were using Avast, but you couldn't connect.
So, you switched to Avira.
Was your connection initially OK right after you installed Avira?

Yeaah. Whenever Avast was active, it blocked me from connecting to the internet. So I went ahead and got rid of it. =(
I noticed I've never been able to update any of my protection either...Like Avira, it mentiones connection issues when trying to update...Malwarebytes just gives me some funny error when I attempt updating.

I just checked if I could update in safemode and it works. xD (For malewarebytes). Yay it's finally updated!

Nope it was bad before and after Avira. ^^;

Take Broni's advice, go post in "Am I Infected". Write the following as your symptoms.

Thread title: Internet connects, can't update/download

"Im online, on a website, but cant download anything, ran Malwarebytes, no infections, but cant update the program, received an error "write error here". Started in Safe Mode with Networking, and was able to Update Malwarebytes."

Post Link to this thread.

Ive have Avast for years, never has it done this to me, so you know this isnt normal of the program. While your posting in the Am I Infected thread, dont use the Computer except to do what they say.

I'd probably PM your malware helper to reopen your topic.
If you're not able to update your security programs, it's highly suspicious.
