My computer became very slow today so I tried to restart. When it attempted to restart the windows logo screen never went away and the computer did not boot past that point. I then restarted trying to boot into safe mode. When I did a blue screen came up and said that SystemRoot\System32\Config\Software was corrupt, absent, or not writeable - Beginning dump of physical memory. I am wondering what I need to do. I'm thinking I probably have to reformat, but I am looking for any guidance or help. Not exactly sure how to reformat either if my computer wont even boot up. I run Windows XP Home. Thanks for any help you can give me.

Hello and welcome

AVIRA RESCUE CD
Try creating this disk and boot off of it. You will need another computer to make this disk on.

hey boopme,

I tried the rescue CD, but I can't get it to boot to the CD. I changed the boot priority, but windows still boots. Any other suggestions?

Hi, do you have an XP CD and if so, can you boot from it?

regards, Elise
