My antivirus software recently began detecting all kinds of infections, and windows defender has also been giving me alerts so after attempting to disinfect the files i went to windows update and realized that it hasnt been updated since late April. I tried to update it then and it gave me error code 80072ee2 and would not allow me to update. also my antivirus software will not update either. I'm not quite sure what to do at this point but any help would be appreciated. thank you.

Hello and welcome to Bleepingcomputer.

Please go to this link and download MalwareBytes by clicking the FREE version of it, install MalwareBytes and update it by going to the UPDATE tab.

Once it has updated please run the program with a fullscan and let it finish.

MalwareBytes will create a log, save it to your desktop. If it finds any infections please allow it to remove what it finds.

If it fails to run, run it in safe mode, by rebooting and pressing the F8 key when you see the windows splash screen.

If your computer is infected, your post will be refered to someone in our malware removal team.

Please post back your results.

I had to download the Malwarebytes program from filehippo because when i try to go to the main site or the site of any antivirus software it will not allow me to connect. When I tried to update the Malwarebytes program it would also not let me update that. I ran the program anyway and had several infections. Here is the log
