Hey guys -

I "built" my first computer about a month ago. Whenever I watch a video, play a game, or engage in specific type of semi-high memory tasks, my computer just randomly shuts off. If I try to turn it on, it goes to the "Repair Windows Startup" or "Start Windows Normally" screen. The "Repair Windows Startup" option will attempt to repair but then the computer will eventually shut off. And the "Start Windows Normally" option will again, just shut off the computer. I usually just have to wait 15 minutes or so to turn on the computer, and it works fine until the next time it decides to shut down.

All my hardware I have installed are brand new out of the box. I am running windows 7 64-bit. Intel® Core ™ i7 CPU - 930 @ 2.80GHz - 2.65GHz. Installed RAM is 6 GB.

Once in a while, it will show me a blue screen error message when turning the computer on. Here is one of them:

Problem signature:

I updated my video drivers as well.. with no luck.

Download/install BlueScreenView, http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/blue_screen_view.html.

Double-click BlueScreenView.exe file.

When scanning is done, Edit/Select All...then File/Save Selected Items.

Save the report as BSOD.txt.

Open BSOD.txt in Notepad, copy all content and paste it into your next reply.

Do you have an Nvidia video card?

There has been some known issues lately with driver nvddmkm.sys in some of the latest Nvidia driver updates.

I was one of them, so that is why I am asking.

Bruce.

The computer shuts down far more often than that.. probably about 5 times per day. I'm guessing there isn't always a blue screen error displayed.

Thanks. I fixed the blue screen but I am getting video errors. Majority of the time when playing a video or playing a game, the computer will shut down.

My video card is ATI Radeon HD 5700 Series
