Is there a free program that will convert a scanned PDF file to a Word doc and allow me to edit the doc? I have found a couple, but the are for a free 2 week trial period, then you have to purchase it or lose it.

Our office just converted to Office 2007.

Thanks.

http://www.pdfonline.com/pdf2word/index.asp seems to be a decent online option. It converted my test PDF into a RTF file, which MS Word can open and edit quite nicely.

I really like PrimoPDF. It has a easy to learn UI, and is very easy to use.

You can convert PDF to Word DOC or DOCX format. But this way you may get a file which may not be editable. I tried converting a PDF file using NitroPDF into DOC. It created the file but it was full of scanned images - nothing to edit. If your PDF file is created using OCR scanning, then you may be able to edit the resulting DOC file.

You can find many online pdf to word converters like the one Andrew suggested.
