Hello, new to these forums so hope i don't sound like too much of an idiot.

Basically the problem is trying to boot up my computer, it crashed earlier today and i thought nothing of it really and just turned it back on (its done this a few times in the past but never been a problem), i did start up repair and tried restarting the laptop. Its an Acer aspire 5920 if that helps at all, the problem i've encountered when turning it back on was that it would get to a part where it said installing updates, and then no further than that. I've tried starting in safe mode and start up repair a number of times but it hasn't helped.

Any idea on what my next course of action should be?

When installing updates...did it actually stop...or just appear to stop? Any onscreen error message?

It says, 'Configuring Updates Step 3/3 0% Complete. Do not turn off your computer. '

always gets to there, never past it and it never actually does the first two steps
