Once a day @ least, on all browsers and computers in house I will be redirected to a "myspace" page.

- I uploaded ark.text using gmer, I unchecked boxes from the preparation guide but was not able to check all the ones required so it do not look like figure and was unable to change settings.
Appreciate any help given.

Hello and welcome to Bleeping Computer

We apologize for the delay in responding to your request for help. Here at Bleeping Computer we get overwhelmed at times, and we are trying our best to keep up. Please note that your topic was not intentionally overlooked. Our mission is to help everyone in need, but sometimes it takes just a little longer to get to every request for help. No one is ignored here.

If you have since resolved the original problem you were having, we would appreciate you letting us know. If not please perform the following steps below so we can have a look at the current condition of your machine.

Please include a clear description of the problems you're having, along with any steps you may have performed so far.

Please refrain from running tools or applying updates other than those we suggest while we are cleaning up your computer. The reason for this is so we know what is going on with the machine at any time. Some programs can interfere with others and hamper the recovery process.

Even if you have already provided information about your PC, we need a new log to see what has changed since you originally posted your problem.
We need to create an OTL Report
  1. Please download OTL from one of the following mirrors:
  2. Save it to your desktop.
  3. Double click on the icon on your desktop.
  4. Click the "Scan All Users" checkbox.
  5. In the custom scan box paste the following:
    CODE
    msconfig
    safebootminimal
    activex
    drivers32
    netsvcs
    %SYSTEMDRIVE%\*.exe
    /md5start
    eventlog.dll
    scecli.dll
    netlogon.dll
    cngaudit.dll
    sceclt.dll
    ntelogon.dll
    logevent.dll
    iaStor.sys
    nvstor.sys
    atapi.sys
    IdeChnDr.sys
    viasraid.sys
    AGP440.sys
    vaxscsi.sys
    nvatabus.sys
    viamraid.sys
    nvata.sys
    nvgts.sys
    iastorv.sys
    ViPrt.sys
    eNetHook.dll
    ahcix86.sys
    KR10N.sys
    nvstor32.sys
    ahcix86s.sys
    nvrd32.sys
    symmpi.sys
    adp3132.sys
    mv61xx.sys
    nvraid.sys
    /md5stop
    %systemroot%\*. /mp /s
    %systemroot%\system32\*.dll /lockedfiles
    %systemroot%\Tasks\*.job /lockedfiles
    %systemroot%\system32\drivers\*.sys /lockedfiles
    %systemroot%\System32\config\*.sav
    %systemroot%\system32\drivers\*.sys /90
  6. Push the button.
  7. Two reports will open, copy and paste them in a reply here:
    • OTL.txt <-- Will be opened
    • Extra.txt<--Will be minimized

In the upper right hand corner of the topic you will see a button called Options. If you click on this in the drop-down menu you can choose Track this topic. I suggest you do this and select Immediate E-Mail notification and click on Proceed. This way you will be advised when we respond to your topic and facilitate the cleaning of your machine.

After 5 days if a topic is not replied to we assume it has been abandoned and it is closed.

regards myrti

is that a bird?  a plane? nooo it's the flying blueberry!

If I have been helping you and haven't replied in 2 days, feel free to shoot me a PM! Please don't send help request via PM, unless I am already helping you. Use the forums!

Hi myrti, thanks for the reply.
Every day for @ least 15-20mins my browser will be redirected, affects all 3 computers in my house but not always @ the same time. It will redirect me to a "myspace" page (I don't have a myspace account). During the 20minutes that it is redirecting my browser, I am able to visit some websites but not many. Any flash based or streaming video (Java?) websites will cause it to instantly redirect.
Here is an example of one of the links from when I get redirected:

Hi,

as a first step I would suggest that you reset your router:

Router Reset
  • Please read this: Malware Silently Alters Wireless Router Settings

  • Consult this link to find out what is the default username and password of your router and note down them: Route Passwords

  • Then rest your router to it's factory default settings:

    QUOTE
"If your machine has been infected by one of these Zlob/DNSchanger Trojans, and your router settings have been altered, I would strongly recommend that you reset the router to its default configuration. Usually, this can be done by inserting something tiny like a paper clip end or pencil tip into a small hole labeled "reset" located on the back of the router. Press and hold down the small button inside until the lights on the front of the router blink off and then on again (usually about 10 seconds)"

  • This is the difficult part.
First get to the routers server. To do that type http:\\192.168.1.1 in the address bar and click Enter. You get the log in window.
Fill in the password you have already found and you will get the configuration page.
Configure the router to allow you to connect to your ISP server. In some routers it is done by a setup wizard. But you have to fill in the log in password your ISP has initially given to you.
You can also call your ISP if you don't have your initial password.
Don't forget to change the routers default password and set a strong password. Note down the password and keep it somewhere for future reference.

  • Please make sure of the following settings:
    • Go to start => Control panel => Double-click Network and Sharing Center.
    • In the left window select Manage network Connection.
    • In the right window right-click Local Area connection and select Properties .
    • Internet Protocol Version 6 (IP6v) should be checked. Double-click on it: Make sure of the following settings:
    • The option Obtain an IP address automatically should be checked.
    • The option Obtain DNS server address automatically should be checked.
    • Click OK.
    • Internet Protocol Version 4 (IP4v) should be checked. Double-click on it.[list]
    • The option Obtain an IP address automatically should be checked.
    • The option Obtain DNS server address automatically should be checked.
  • Click OK twice.
  • If you should change any setting reboot the computer.

Let me know if the redirects persist.

Hi myrti,
I followed your steps this mourning and reset my router but the redirect came back. I thought it might work since my anti virus/malware/spyware programs never find anything so it made sense that the problem might have been with my router. Any additional help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you !

It very well still could be my router that's infected but I'm not sure. This is the link I was redirected to today.
It says facebook in the URL even though it redirects me to fake myspace page.
I can sometimes get around this redirect if I flushdns in the cmd prompt. Hope this helps. Sorry for the bump.

Hi,

does this only happen on your Facebook profile? It could also be related to some plugin or game you installed on your profile.

Hi,

the last link you gave me is a normal part of the cnet.com webpage. Does it open that page in a dedicated browser window?

Is this only happening in Internet Explorer or also in other browsers?

Yes it does,
It happens in all browsers - Firefox, Internet Explorer & Chrome - I feel like this might have started after downloading Chrome

Hi myrti,

I have been running Firefox in safe mode for about 5 days now without any redirects. What is causing my Firefox to redirect while using it normally ?

Hi,

you probably installed a rogue extension. Can you go to Tool and then Add-Ons in Firefox and click on Extensions. Please tell me what has been installed.

Hi,

I am going to assume that all of these extensions are familiar to you? Could you check if one of the plugins is unfamiliar then, maybe?
