Malwarebytes not as effective anymore?

Working with infected PC the past 3 weeks, it has been interesting. Malwarebytes comes up clean (yes, latest version with updates), even Combofix doesn't do much. But install something like Kaspersky ISS 2010 with updates and full scan, will usually locate a rootkit or trojan and clean the machine. This is happening more often.

I sure as heck hope that the key tools of our trade for removing this crap aren't fizzling out. Seems like we see products come on strong, peak, then fizzle.
