I was able to recently solve my issue and I am posting this in case it might help others. I use Firefox as my default browser and recently the search redirects starting happening. They were happening with all search engines but only with the Firefox browser. After reading many articles and using many of the suggested programs, I got it down to one registry entry that Malwarebytes was reporting (HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\WinServers (Malware.Trace). Malwarebytes would remove it, but it would reappear whenever I started Firefox. Starting other browsers had no effect. I came across a program called Emisoft Anti-Malware which has a free mode in it. The scan found a lot of thing the others didn't. I quarantined everything it found and then rebooted and started Firefox. The redirects returned. I then manually removed that registry entry, uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox and the registry entry stopped regenerating and the redirects stopped. As I said, I'm no expert and this may not help everyone, but it worked for me.
