I had Antimalware Doctor on my desktop, I got rid of it, but since then all the computers (including my Mac) that are part of my LAN have had their browswers hijacked. What this means is, when I run a search, say with google, and I get a list of hits, when I click on one of the links, my browser gets redirected to some crazy page like "Video Cop", it even says in the address bar as it is loading something to this effect "google.redirect5.com" or something like that. It comes and goes too, sometimes everthing works fine , other times browsing is a nightmare.

here is the dds log and i've attached the other two logs. Thanks for your help, this is really driving me crazy, I have used every malware removal tool, system scanner etc. that I could find. I even downloaded ViRobot and installed that on all my machines after i uninstalled the McAffees. I'm running Microsoft's Security Essentials too, and lavasoft's "adaware" .

Hello ,
And welcome.gif to the Bleeping Computer Malware Removal Forum
. My name is Elise and I'll be glad to help you with your computer problems.

I will be working on your malware issues, this may or may not solve other issues you may have with your machine.

Please note that whatever repairs we make, are for fixing your computer problems only and by no means should be used on another computer.
  • The cleaning process is not instant. Logs can take some time to research, so please be patient with me. I know that you need your computer working as quickly as possible, and I will work hard to help see that happen.
  • Please reply using the Add/Reply button in the lower right hand corner of your screen. Do not start a new topic.
  • The logs that you post should be pasted directly into the reply. Only attach them if requested or if they do not fit into the post.
  • Unfortunately, if I do not hear back from you within 5 days, I will be forced to close your topic. If you still need help after I have closed your topic, send me or a moderator a personal message with the address of the thread or feel free to create a new one.
You may want to keep the link to this topic in your favorites. Alternatively, you can click the button at the top bar of this topic and Track this Topic, where you can choose email notifications. The topics you are tracking are shown here.
-----------------------------------------------------------

If you have since resolved the original problem you were having, we would appreciate you letting us know. If not please perform the following steps below so we can have a look at the current condition of your machine.

If you have not done so, include a clear description of the problems you're having, along with any steps you may have performed so far.

If you have already posted a log, please do so again, as your situation may have changed.
Use the 'Add Reply' and add the new log to this thread.

We need to see some information about what is happening in your machine. Please perform the following scan:
  • Please download OTL from one of the following mirrors:
  • Save it to your desktop.
  • Double click on the icon on your desktop.
  • Click the "Scan All Users" checkbox.
  • Push the button.
  • Two reports will open, copy and paste them in a reply here:
    • OTListIt.txt <-- Will be opened
    • Extra.txt <-- Will be minimized

Please download Rootkit Unhooker and save it to your Desktop
  • Double-click on RKUnhookerLE to run it
  • Click the Report tab, then click Scan
  • Check Drivers, Stealth and uncheck the rest
  • Click OK
  • Wait until it's finished and then go to File > Save Report
  • Save the report to your Desktop
Copy the entire contents of the report and paste it in a reply here.

Note - you may get this warning it is ok, just ignore: "Rootkit Unhooker has detected a parasite inside itself!
It is recommended to remove parasite, okay?"

-------------------------------------------------------------
In the meantime please, do NOT install any new programs or update anything unless told to do so while we are fixing your problem

If you still need help, please include the following in your next reply
  • A detailed description of your problems
  • A new OTL log (don't forget extra.txt)
  • RKU log

Thanks and again sorry for the delay.

regards, Elise

Which logs are you refering to? The ones from the malware removal start page? I'll have to run them again since I have made other changes since the first time I ran them. Should we start with just one computer at a time?

Yes, we cannot work with logs from multiple computers since that will confuse things. Just follow the steps from my first post. smile.gif

I see no active malware in your logs, nor did Combofix find anything significant.

Please let me know how you proceeded with the router reset. I'm almost sure your router is the culprit here, so lets concentrate on that first.

regards, Elise

I followed the instructions sent to me by Belkin when I reported this problem to them. I too felt that it had to be the router since when my oldest boy came over to visit he used my wifi and had the hijack problem, then when he went home and used his dad's wifi, the problem was gone. Anyway from what I recall they had me use a paperclip to reset the hardware, then when the router was back online, they had me login to the router control panel and clone the mac address. I think that was it, but let me get back to you again after I dig up their email.

Okay, please let me know if you still have the instructions and if you can try doing it again.

After that, post back and let me know if you see any difference.

regards, Elise

Okay, I reset the router hardware, cloned the WAN/MAC address and applied the changes. Then since a new WEP key had been generated I had to go around and reconfigure the wireless devices. Anyway, it did not work. All my machines are still getting redirected to strange places like "cafemom" and "videocop". Sometimes when I click on a link I get the "cannot display webpage error" or on my son's it says "http 404 not found". This is ridiculus, I am getting really frustrated and I have a 2000 word paper on Criminal Justice I have to write this weekend, so I need to get some work done on that.
