Within the past month or so, I have been noticing a very irritating situation with my PC. For no reason at all, audio starts coming out of my system. The most common one "played" is just some guy saying, "Congratulations, you've won". But there are many others, and the others all seem to be "radio" commercials for various PC games generally. (About 20-30 seconds long) And they occur constantly. All hours of the day and night.

To the beginning. I own a Dell XPS 410 PC. (Screenshot below with specifics). It originally had Vista Ultimate installed on it, but after a LONG drawn out fight with Microsoft, they sent me Windows 7 Ultimate to install on this machine. I'm certain that the upgrade was done on or around 7/13/10. I had to wait to install 7 because I needed a new CD/DVD player to do so. (Screenshot of that item below also). Now, I have this issue. wacko.gif

I have updated and run SUPERAnti-spyware, MalwareBytes, (Both run several times, with nothing more ever found other than cookies) and am currently using Microsoft Security Essentials for my AV. I saw an article from a newsletter I get called Guiding Tech regarding rootkits and downloaded one they recommended, and ran it. It's called Sophos Rootkit Detector .exe and under a quick scan it detected something called "Trojan.Hashish.3". I also ran "rkill.exe" as recommended from this site. (Screenshot included below) Other than killing my Google Chrome browser, and all it's individual tabs, ( whistling.gif ), it also found and killed the version of FastStone Capture that I'm using, (Free version 5.3) which I find curious because this is also the only item that another tool I used to search the PC found to be dangerous. That tool was by Sysinternals, and it's called "Process Explorer". That screenshot is also attached below also.

Then I came here to the Forum. I've read the Prep Guide for this site, and have downloaded all of the tools in it to my desktop. However the guide doesn't specifically state what to do beings I'm running Win 7, or if anything should be done differently or not. Therefore, I've put out this post for someone to let me know what I should do next, or let me now where I should turn for help. This is really aggravating, as I can't watch any movies, use any music of any kind, and it's just plain irritating as all hell to have your peace and quiet disturbed all of a sudden by this stuff! crazy.gif

Your help and guidance would be appreciated. Thank You in advance.

Odean

Thank You for your response, unfortunately it has come to late. I have had to resort to contacting those lame jerks @ Microsoft. The reason for this is that my system NO LONGER WORKS AT ALL. My system began operating in an unstable seeming manner, and I decided to restart it.

When the BIOS screen came up, the thing hung up, and then a message appeared that stated just 3 little words. Missing Operating System.

So, until I have THAT issue resolved, the other issue that YOU have volunteered to help me with is rather pointless to address. I do thank you for your efforts thus far, and as soon as the other one is fixed, I will be getting back in touch.

I am sending this message via my roommates' laptop, and have VERY limited access to it. I was ironically looking at my inbox on my Gmail account after just sending a scathing e-mail off to Microsoft's "Escalation Specialist,
North America Customer Service Response Management Team, Volt at Microsoft Corporation. (?) There is a woman there that WAS in charge of handling my PAST issue with them, and so I had just reached out to her, when YOUR e-mail came in.
