When I turn on my Vista Home Premium desktop, after selecting the user it becomes trapped in a state of loading perpetually at the welcome screen. Nothing will function, even attempts to activate windows task manager are thwarted. The problem occurred shortly after installing The Sims 2 and every expansion pack, and after performing startup repair, everything related to the program was uninstalled, leading me to believe that the program held some sort of virus, even though it was never picked up by kaspersky or malwarebytes, so I then deleted everything related to the program in any conceivable way, such as left over program files and the like. After purging the computer of the files, It would then quickly bypass the welcome screen and be perpetually loading on the desktop. And the computer does not stop loading. I have left it on all night and even some of the day to no avail. I also have had problems with my Nvidia graphics card in the past, so this may also be a result of that. At any rate, I have no idea what to do about this problem and some aid would be most appreciated.
