Windows Updates, as well as Microsoft Security Essentials definition updates, will not download, with error code: 80072EFE. The computer is wirelessly connected to a router with no proxy settings, just direct access to the Internet through the router. I can access the Internet through browsers (Internet Explorer and Safari) as well as ping. I have scanned and cleaned the computer, and there seem to no infections.

My guess is a firewall blocking access. Do you have any firewalls enabled?

Have you checked your connection settings for a proxy server which may have set by malware which is now removed?

Info on Error Code.
