When browsing websites, whenever I go to a new one, the computer will play the drop sound, sometimes more than once. This started about 3 weeks ago, and I don't remember making any changes to my computer that might have brought this on.

I have run adaware, pestpatrol, and my antivirus software, and am virus and spyware free.

I have no idea what is causing this noise, and what to do to get rid of it.

I have also tried other browsers to see if it's an IE only problem. The sound still plays when using other browsers.

My first thought was that it might be some sort of pop-up blocker that was somehow installed, but I don't see one anywhere, and I can still get legitimate pop-ups without authorizing them from the specific site first. Any ideas??

Probably pest patrol deleting a cookie. Disable the sounds in the program.
Spike's advice: Backup your data routinely.
