You are currently using HijackThis from a temporary directory, this can cause problems.
  • Please go to My Computer, open your C:\ drive, Select: New >> Folder and name the folder HJT.
  • Download HijackThis to the new folder:
  • Double Click on 'HijackThis.zip' to extract and install HijackThis.exe to the new folder.

Hi David.
I'm Tim, and thanks for the help. I have had HJT in a C: folder since downloading. I'm not sure how to make it say otherwise. It is currently being opened from "C:\Program Files\HJT\HijackThis.zip".

Hi there
I can't see too much wrong in the log apart from a few things we can clean later. Can you be more specific on the problems you have?
Thanks
David

1. For the past couple weeks, on system startup, there are two processes that run that i've never seen before. They use 100% of the CPU until I stop them with the task manager.

2. Java keeps a script running after firefox is closed until I stop the firefox.exe process with the task manager.

3. Thrice, in the past two weeks, my computer has rebooted itself over night.

Download WindPFind

Extract WinPFind.zip to your c:\ folder.

Reboot your computer into Safe Mode

Then open c:\WinPFind and double-click on WinPFind.exe.
When the program is open, click on the Start Scan button to start scanning your computer. Be patient as this scan may take a while.
When it is done, it will show a log and tell you the scan is completed. Reboot your computer back to normal mode and and post the contents of c:\WinPFind\WinPFind.txt as a reply to this topic.

1. For the past couple weeks, on system startup, there are two processes that run that i've never seen before. They use 100% of the CPU until I stop them with the task manager.

Can you name them if possible.
Thanks
David

Hi David,

I haven't said how much I appreciate you giving your time to me. I do, very much. Thank you.

wctray.exe
hpqtra08.exe
hpqthb08.exe
hpgalry.exe

I'm starting to think my new printer's driver is the culprit for the last three as its an HP. If so how do I stop it?

Most of the those are for HP printers - i'd leave them as they aern't harming your system!
Are you experiencing and slow down?

David

Yep. If I don't manually end them, I can't do anything. They use all of my processing power. Do you know what wctray.exe is? It is new, and uses a ton of power too.

I think it's to do with wave centre audio systems?
Does that ring a bell?
