Hello, I have 2 problems. Any help is greatly appreciated!

1) In the System configuration utility (msconfig) under the startup tab, when I try to uncheck programs from starting up when windows starts they donít save, I click apply and ok, and restart. When I go back into it all the programs are still checked to start up.

2) I got some spyware and maybe a couple viruses I cannot seem to delete, they just keep coming back:

wkdvqyp.exe
ISTsvc\ISTsvc.exe
SurfAccuracy\SAcc.exe
Internet Optimizer\optimize.exe

I have Avast and AD-watch running. I tryed spybot, adware, killbox, antispy.info., edwido security suite and hijackthis with the www.hijackthis.de site. but the spyware just keeps comming back.

I cannot delete the following because I cannot find them. They are not there, but hijackthis says they are:

C:\Program Files\ISTsvc\
C:\WINDOWS\wkdvqyp.exe
C:\Program Files\SurfAccuracy\
C:\Program Files\Internet Optimizer

I have tried everything in safe mode as well with no luck.

Welcome to the forum. Sorry you've had to wait so long, but we've been real busy.

HijackThis also has an "uninstall manager" under the Misc. Tools section. Try to uninstall these programs with this tool:
ISTsvc
SurfAccuracy
Internet Optimizer

Reconfigure Windows XP to show hidden files:
Click Start. Open My Computer.
Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options. Select the View Tab.
Under the Hidden files and folders heading select "Show hidden files and folders".
Uncheck the "Hide protected operating system files (recommended)" option.
Uncheck the "Hide file extensions for known file types" option.
Click Yes to confirm. Click OK.

Next navigate to these folders and delete what I have in bold .
C:\Program Files\ ISTsvc\
C:\Program Files\ SurfAccuracy\
C:\Program Files\Internet Optimizer

Do the same for this file .
C:\WINDOWS\wkdvqyp.exe

Next, download CleanUp 4.0, install and run it. Open Cleanup! by double-clicking the icon on your desktop (or from the Start > All Programs menu).
Set the program up as follows:
Click "Options..."
Move the arrow down to "Custom CleanUp!"
Put a check next to the following (Make sure nothing else is checked!):
Empty Recycle Bins
Delete Cookies
Delete Prefetch files
Cleanup! All Users
Click OK
Press the CleanUp! button to start the program.

It may ask you to reboot at the end, click NO.
  • Launch ewido, there should be an icon on your desktop, double-click it.
  • The program will now open to the main screen.
  • When you run ewido for the first time, you will get a warning "Database could not be found!". Click OK. We will fix this in a moment.
  • You will need to update ewido to the latest definition files.
    • On the left hand side of the main screen click update.
    • Then click on Start Update.
  • The update will start and a progress bar will show the updates being installed.
(the status bar at the bottom will display "Update successful")
If you are having problems with the updater, you can use this link to manually update ewido.
ewido manual updates

Once the updates are installed do the following:
  • Click on scanner
  • Click on Complete System Scan and the scan will begin.
  • NOTE: During some scans with ewido it is finding cases of false positives.**
    • You will need to step through the process of cleaning files one-by-one.
    • If ewido detects a file you KNOW to be legitimate, select none as the action.
    • DO NOT select "Perform action on all infections"
    • If you are unsure of any entry found select none for now.
  • Once the scan has completed, there will be a button located on the bottom of the screen named Save report
  • Click Save report.
  • Save the report .txt file to your desktop.
Now close ewido security suite.
Restart your computer and post a new Hijack This log along with the Ewido Report
