I've been having a similar issue, I googled the site I was being redirected to,

hxxp://promo.videocop.com/landing/7/index.php?limit=50&year=2010&aff=NGMzNTkwOWY6OjA%3D&src=synd

and found your post. The weird part is I'm on firefox on os x...

I figured out what the problem was, I'm subletting and didn't question the LAN setup, but apparently our router still had all the default passwords set. As a result someone was able to get in and set our DNS to use two static addresses instead of normal ISP assigned DNSs. I switched it back to the ISP DNS and changed the passwords and haven't seen the issue since.
