Hi, I was recently infected with the Antivir Solution Pro virus which I managed to remove. However since then firefox and IE have been opening new tabs with random advert sites opening up, it also causes a slow down on my PC after a few hours of use. It seems to be quite a common problem on here!
SuperAntiSpyware seems to be able to find the problem but everytime after it says it has removed it the problem seems to remain. "C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\TUHPYFCZ.SYS" is what it finds.
I've let the IT guy at my workplace look at my PC but he can't seem to remove it either, please help!

Thanks in advance
Martyn

P.S. Apologies, couldnt paste DDS in here for some reason, I've attached the file instead. Hope this ok

Hello and Welcome to the forums!

My name is Gringo and I'll be glad to help you with your computer problems.

Somethings to remember while we are working together.
  1. Do not run any other tool untill instructed to do so!
  2. Please Do not Attach logs or put in code boxes.
  3. Tell me about any problems that have occurred during the fix.
  4. Tell me of any other symptoms you may be having as these can help also.
  5. Do not run anything while running a fix.

In the upper right hand corner of the topic you will see a button called Options. If you click on this in the drop-down menu you can choose Track this topic. By doing this and then choosing Immediate E-Mail notification and then clicking on Proceed you will be advised when we respond to your topic and facilitate the cleaning of your machine.

We apologize for the delay in responding to your request for help. Here at Bleeping Computer we get overwhelmed at times, and we are trying our best to keep up. Please note that your topic was not intentionally overlooked. Our mission is to help everyone in need, but sometimes it takes just a little longer to get to every request for help. No one is ignored here.

In order for me to see the status of the infection I will need a new set of logs to start with.

Please print out or make a copy in notpad of any instructions given, as sometimes it is necessary to go offline and you will lose access to them.

    • Double-Click on dds.scr and a command window will appear. This is normal.
    • Shortly after two logs will appear:
      • DDS.txt

Hello

I Would like you to do the following.

Please print out or make a copy in notpad of any instructions given, as sometimes it is necessary to go offline and you will lose access to them.

Run Combofix:
Please visit this webpage for download links, and instructions for running the tool:

    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/combofix/how-to-use-combofix

Please ensure you read this guide carefully and install the Recovery Console first.

The Windows Recovery Console will allow you to boot up into a special recovery (repair) mode.
This allows us to more easily help you should your computer have a problem after an attempted removal of malware.
It is a simple procedure that will only take a few moments of your time.

Once installed, you should see a blue screen prompt that says:
The Recovery Console was successfully installed.
    Please continue as follows:
    • Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.
    • Click Yes to allow ComboFix to continue scanning for malware.

When the tool is finished, it will produce a report for you.

Please include the report in your next post:

    C:\ComboFix.txt

"information and logs"
In your next post I need the following
    1. Log from Combofix
    2. let me know of any problems you may have had

Hello again Gringo, thank you again for your help
I ran combo fix. It had to reboot near the start to remove a rootkit which I guess is a good sign! Its probably a little early to say how different my PC is running just yet, but early signs seem encouraging. No redirects just yet
Posted below is the combo fix log as requested.

hello martyn_l

One of the developers for the tools we use has asked if you would run this tool for us. the virus you have is a new version of a virus and would like to check it with this tool - if it is OK please do the following Exactly

Instructions:
1. Download the tool, and save it to your Desktop.
2. Disable all resident Antivirus protection. <---very important!!!
3. Start your Internet browser, and go to Google. If you use a browser that's NOT Internet Explorer, then please ALSO start that and go to Google.
4. Run the tool from your desktop, and wait until you see the "Press any key to continue..." message.
5. Right click on the title bar (where the program name and path is written).
6. From the menu, choose Edit -> Select All.
7. Hit the Enter key on your keyboard to copy selected text.
8. Open a new Notepad document, paste the text, and then save it to your desktop as TDLCheck.txt

The tool should create a folder on your desktop called "dumpfiles". Please ZIP that folder, and upload it here, along with the contents of "TDLCheck.txt".

If it is not ok just let me know

Gringo

No problem Gringo

I had both Internet Explorer and Firefox open (FF is my default)
It ran quite quickly, hope I've done it right! If you want me to do it again just with IE please let me know.

Edit: Just having a quick browse on FF and got another tab open with an advert...

Hi Gringo
I tried to follow your instructions but unfortunately recovery console wouldn't load. The bar at the bottom of the screen, while the program was meant to be loading, went full but never progressed from there. I left it on overnight but the situation didn't change.
I read that recovery console could be loaded from the xp installation disks, so I wanted to see if this would work but when I tried to load recovery console from this it said that there were no disk drives connected or something and wouldn't work
