Posted 13 August 2010 - 10:25 AM

When I boot up normally I get several windows popping up that there is not a valid windows image or for example, Symantec cc App error 1002.1, etc. I am unable to open up all programs except Outlook Express 6.0 but when I attempt to view messages it says I am low disk space and cannot view any messages. I am only able to get on my computer in Safe Mode.
Here is my HijackThis and Malwarebytes logs. Please advise what my next step should be.
I have no idea what my infection is nor how I could have gotten this problem.

Thank you in advance.

I downloaded 2.0.4 Hijack in safe mode and was unable of course to install the program. When I attempted to install it in normal mode on my windows 2000 machine and I ran into SEVERAL error messages.
1450, c:\winnt\installer\ was the last one I received. Now I am unable to do get into it at all.

I cannot run or load any program including Mozilla or Internet Explorer without being in safe mode.

Any ideas on how I could get the new version of Hijack this on my sick computer and run the install in safe mode?
Thank you,

Hello,

This topic is a duplicate of the one posted here: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/339435/exe-errors-unknow-infection/ which has been moved to the proper forum. Posting more than one topic on the same issue is called double-posting and is not allowed on this forum because it can create massive confusion and in this case make the malware removal process more difficult and time consuming. Therefore, this topic shall be deleted.

Please be patient. It may take a while to get a response because the MRT Team members are EXTREMELY busy working logs posted before yours. They are volunteers who will help you out as soon as possible. Once you have made your post and are waiting, please DO NOT make another reply until it has been responded to by a member of the MRT Team. Generally the staff checks the forum for postings that have 0 replies as this makes it easier for them to identify those who have not been helped. If you post another response there will be 1 reply. A team member, looking for a new log to work may assume another MRT Team member is already assisting you and not open the thread to respond.

Please note: you should NOT make further changes to your computer (install/uninstall programs, use special fix tools, delete files, edit the registry, etc) unless advised by a MRT Team member, nor should you continue to ask for help elsewhere. Doing so can result in system changes which may not show in the log you already posted. Further, any modifications you make on your own may cause confusion for the helper assisting you and could complicate the malware removal process which would extend the time it takes to clean your computer.

From this point on the MRT Team should be the only members that you take advice from, until they have verified your log as clean.

Please be patient. It may take several days to get a response but your log will be reviewed and answered as soon as possible. I advise checking your topic once a day for responses as the e-mail notification system is unreliable.

This topic shall disappear in the next 24 hours or so.
