Yes I would replace the windows firewall with an aftermarket. I prefer SyGate to Zone Alarm but both are excellent choices, and are currently free for personal use. Be sure to disable Microsoft's firewall prior to enabling another firewall.

Sygate 5.4
Zone Alarm

I hope this helps.

Anytime you run a program you take resources away from other processes. I am running a P-III 500 w/ 512mb RAM and it does not noticable effect my computer. But every computer/user has different setups and needs. I really think you will be fine. What setup do you have?

Just to make sure there was no conflict why don't you disable Windows firewall and enable ZA. Try to to enduce the problem that you have before. ZA is an excellent product. You just may need to tweak it.

Hi - just FYI - I have dowloaded twice ( my old and new computer ) and currently use ZA. Both times when i downloaded ZA it automatically turned off the windows firewall. Keith
