All of a sudden my dvd won't burn anymore. I've tried updating the firmware but still have no success, I've posted a log of my most recent failure below. Thanks for any help.

Try it in a different system (temporarily)...if it doesn't work there, it's time to open the wallet.

Yea, I've had that problem with mine too. Both drives got old and we eventually got them replaced by our warranty, then we just turned around and replaced those with a dvd rom and dvd burner lol.

Thanks for the help, I think I've pretty much tried everything. Sounds like it's time for a new one.

ok i saw this while searching for the same error.
u have sat here for ages trying to backup a load of files on my laptop onto dvd and got nothing but a really annoying error as you got.
After trying several things,i have now finally suceeded in burning my dvd..how??

i checked the box to write it as a multisession disk.thats it.and now its happy burning away.
i noticed on your log that you had multisession off try turning it on.and see what happens.
