Computer has a hard time booting up. Wuauclt runs and hogs resources. After it stops there is not any update for windows. When I do a search for this file several files show in the results. Here is the search results as an attachment.

I think there might be two of these wuaucly files. If one is bogus, how do I delete it?

Wuauclt.exe. is Windows Update AutoUpdate Client. This file is located in the folder C:\Windows\System32, if it isn't found in this file location then it could be a virus, spyware, trojan, or worm. You can read more about this at this site.

If you suspect that this is an infection you can open a topic in the Am I Infected forum.

FWIW: I have 4 reflected on my system (which is good).

1 in C:\Windows\System32

1 in C:\Windows\System32\dllcache

2 (with numbers) in the Prefetch folder.

The most common location of the Malware version is "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Common\wuauclt.exe" it use the same name.

Do a file search for wuauclt.exe and post those results.
