Hello All!

About four years ago when I was in college a roommate helped me put together a new computer after my previous one got zapped by a power surge.

Now for some new software I'm installing I need an updated processor and video card. I'm posting below links to the motherboard I currently have, as well as the parts I'm looking to purchase. I think they are compatible, but I wanted to double check with someone who knew. If anyone could help, I'd be much obliged.

The motherboard: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/se...roductresources

Processor: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/Se...mp;Sku=A79-5200

Video Card: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/Se...AIN#detailspecs

Not even close.

Motherboard is Socket 754/AGP. CPU is Socket AM2, and the videocard is PCIEX16.

There are no more Socket 754 CPUs being made, ditto for AGP cards. They are out there, but old stock.

Likely time for a new system. What programs do you need to run?

I am a retired Ford tech. Next to Fords, any computer is a piece of cake. (The cake, its not a lie)

My main programs are adobe premiere (video editing) Microsoft Office, photoshop CS 2, and internet, but I also run games on the system, like Sims 2 and eventually I'll want to get SC II.
