So I had some kind of malware - keyloggers took over my WOW account, and then google started making me use capchka to do any basic search, with a note that they detected automated queries from my computer.

I changed most of my passwords, and used the system restore disc - nothing seems to be wrong at this point.

However, I still get the google capchka - 3 days after the system restore. I've done searches on the processes and services, but everything says that "this is legit - but could be corrupted".

I've got AVG free on, I have run malwarebytes and spybot. Nothing finds anything that's a problem.

The only things I've downloaded that I wonder if it could have caused trouble because it immediately affected my registry is:

Open Office
Security Task Manager (for looking for malware, but maybe it was a trick!)
Curse Client for WOW (and their associated add ons).

Google's help info suggested using HijackThis, and HijackThis is greek to me and suggested Bleeping Computer.

Can anyone tell a novice user how to confirm whether he's infected, and how to remove?

Thanks!!!

Hello,

Please follow the instructions in ==>This Guide<==. If you cannot complete a step, skip it and continue.

Once the proper logs are created, then make a NEW TOPIC and post it ==>HERE<== Please include a description of your computer issues and what you have done to resolve them.

If you can produce at least some of the logs, then please create the new topic and explain what happens when you try to create the log(s) that you couldn't get. If you cannot produce any of the logs, then still post the topic and explain that you followed the Prep. Guide, were unable to create the logs, and describe what happens when you try to create the logs.
