Try # 2
Hi,
Program: Small Business xp version 2002 - excel 2002
Just finished doing my July daily cash count sheet and folder (July DCCS 2010) with excel. Every thing was working fine and I went in to excel to creat a new August folder. I got it done.
Went back to redo July 31st sheet and the folder and all information was gone. Even the icon that represents the folder did not look like excel's anymore. It turned into one of those generic icons that won't open or is empty......
So here is what I did:
1. Did a "detect and repair". Result: Could not repair and could not access a certain Hkey_local machine part of the registry. The message said: error 1402 - setup cannot open the registry key. The registry item was: Hkey_localmachine\software\microsoft\windows\currentVersion\run\optional\components\IMAIL
**Final message said I should contact my computer manufacturer for assistance (*for excel?).
2. Did a System restore. Went back several days into July with system restore and hoped it would return me to a working staus. It did not. But it did return my folder NAME from the "August DCCS 2010" folder to say "July DCCS 2010" - the name of my missing folder but it was still empty except for the August sheet that I had done was in there.
I also did a couple other things. Check my disk defragment. Ran superantispyware etc. Did not do a disk cleanup for fear of accidently dumping my July spreadsheet work.
Can anyone help me find my "July DCCS 2010" folder please? Please? I sure hate to have to go in to redo a whole months worth of work manually. So far the folder appears to have been damaged.
Thank you for any suggestions.
Mary
