Just recently the trojan reappeared, in those files. (Avast scanned it during a file transfer. It was a Hupigon.onx if my memory serves me right) I threw those important files (mostly word docs and pics) on a hard drive once again, and have just finished installing XP 32 bit (SP3) onto the workstation and tested this external hard drive. It has the latest Avast antivirus installed. I ran malwarebytes, nothing came up in thoese files.
It was mentioned to me to also try combofix. I did so, following the BC instructions for Combofix. I read more in the forums and found the page,
so I also followed those steps aswell, then ran combofix again, so I have the dds, gmerlog and combofix .txt files attached
I just need to be sure there's nothing on that external drive.
The attached combofix log file is the for the second scan. first scan can also be provided
Basically, the combofix log file is jibberish to me, anyone able to interpret it?
Verified: it definitely is the hupigon-onx trojan I'm having issues with. My WHS is also having issues with the same. Avast catches it in the daily backup files then quarantines it. Its not originating in these backups, but must be writing the virus with the backup each day. I Quarrentine the infection in the backup, but it keeps popping up in the backup, and not a trace of the Trojan itself... wherever it is. I've run MBAM, nothing shows up there.
I'm heavily considering running combofix on the WHS. Is there any issues with that?
I'm kinda in limbo here...
