Do some games require a certain sound card and if so do the games work if you dont have that specific sound card?? For instance if your ok with onboard sound you dont need a sound card or do certain programs require one?

Some games require "Direct Sound" which most cards (SoundBlaster) can handle. Most onboard sound is not this fancy. Most games wiill work (Enter the Matrix) ,but the quality is not near as good.
