I have been infected with what combofix told me is a whistler bootkit. Combofix removed it, and it restored my computers speed a lot. However, I am still getting an add or two everyday (travelocity, Crush alert) without having explorer open.
After following the directions of someone who was in the similar situation as me, he was instructed to run the fixmbr command. Would that ruin my system? I have an older e machines (t2984) with windows XP, and I'm not sure if fixing the mbr will overwrite e machines system, and render it useless. Any help is appreciated, thank you
