I'm running Windows XP Media Center Edition.

I recently picked up AntiVir Solution Pro and Antimalware Doctor. Using a combination of rkill, Malwarebytes, and Killbox I was able to get rid of both of them, and I also installed Microsoft Security Essentials.

Everything seemed fine except that Firefox's built-in search bar would redirect to search.search-star.net. Reinstalling Firefox (as suggested by this user)

seemed to fix that, but I am still getting erratic results from Google. Results look like this: http://i.imgur.com/hJvU7.png

Based on what I've read elsewhere, I suspect a rootkit, but I'm not sure how to proceed.

Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

I decided to just reinstall from the Dell rescue partition so I could use my computer again.

Thanks anyway!
