I'm having a virus problem. Everything is explained below, as I explained it in a previous post (I was told to post a new topic here with a DDS and GMER log)

I think I have a virus. I am running Windows XP on a Dell Desktop (sorry, i don't know the model number or anything!) Installed on this computer (security-wise) I have AVG free version, the latest version. It's set to detect and remove any threats immediately, including tracking cookies. Also, I run weekly scans with the free-version of Malwarebytes : Anti-Malware, and sometimes (every two weeks or so) with ESET online scanner.

I have posted, like, three topics in the last month, and none have been answered! I always come to Bleeping Computer when i have a computer problem, but i don't know what the hold-up is. People that posted topics after me were even getting replies. It's like I was being ignored? Either way, here is another attempt to get some help...

My computer symptoms have been getting worse and worse. First is was just REALLY laggy, and my internet browser would crash (freeze) a lot. Then a few weeks later, I was on a website (that I 100% guarantee was SAFE) and I got a random popup, when I have Safari set to block pop-ups. I even double-checked (if it matters, the popup was for DirecTV) The site was 1001fonts.com. The popup came when i was browsing fonts, before I downloaded any, by the way. That is the ONLY popup I got, but my computer continues to lag. And, just this morning, I got the blue screen of death just after getting on to the internet (once again, i was on a completely safe site)

I know that generally, when you get popups when they're blocked, and you're on a safe site, it's not good. Right? I get a lot of viruses...Gosh knows why. I've just always been one to get a lot. Can you help me? AVG, Malwarebytes, and ESET online scanner have all found NOTHING!

Also, about the computer lag, my dad suggested I defragment the computer and cleanup the disk or whatever? I did that through Control panel. I just defragmented it a few weeks ago, so that was not needed, but i did cleanup the disk space ( I think that's what they call it? ) by deleting recyle bin files, temporary files, etc. Still, it's just as laggy as ever...

Lastly, Firefox is redirecting me. I go to Google, and before I can type, click, or do anything, it redirects me. The URL address typed on the LAYOUT of the redirect page says something along the lines of "cl-finde.com" but the actual URL in the address bar is EXTREMELY long (I have to scroll to the right to see it all) and begins with something COMPLETELY difference ("fileinxt.com" or something?). It always redirects me to the same sit, only on Firefox, only on the Guest Account. It's the official Guest Account that can be turned on/off.

Please help, I know something is wrong. I spend a lot of time on the computer, and can usually tell when something is wrong. These symptoms are just not normal! Especially the lag, it's unbelievable! Please help.

------To recap, my symptoms are (in order of appearance):------

~EXTREME lag
~1 popup
~Blue screen of death while on the internet (not downloading anything) once.
~Firefox redirecting on Guest Account only (not on main accounts, and it is the official Guest Account that can be turned on or off)

Anyyyways, here is my DDS logs!

I can also post the "attach" log but it says at the top not to post it unless requested. So, it's saved to my desktop and available to post whenever (:
Whoever can help me, it will be greatly appreciated. I am here because the person who was helping me said I needed to post a topic here if I wanted to get rid of my problem without restoring to a certain date, which I do NOT want to do. Thank you!

Thanks,
Cassidy.

By the way, I forgot to run GMER and post a log...if you need me to run it and post the log, just let me know!

  3. Tell me about any problems that have occurred during the fix.
  4. Tell me of any other symptoms you may be having as these can help also.
  5. Do not run anything while running a fix.
  6. Do not run any other tool untill instructed to do so!

Note** you may get this warning it is ok, just ignore

Hi, as I told the person helping me in a previous topic, I am having trouble saving to my desktop. I am on Safari, and whenever I try to download something, I get two options. Open or Save. If I choose save, it just opens the downloads panel and shows how much progress it has made downloading. I get no choice of where to save it or what to name it.

Will it affect the cleaning process if I do not save it to my desktop?

So I can run the program by just doing Save and then Run? I don't need to save it on my desktop?

I used to use Firefox, but once I learned they had a Safari for XP computers (not Mac) I tried it. It so SO much faster than using Firefox or IE. I've never used IE, always Firefox. I started using Safari about six months ago...It is noticeably faster. A LOT faster...do you know what that is, anyways? I never knew why, it's just always been LOTS faster than Firefox and IE.

Oh, and I will leave Rootkit Unhooker incase we need it (:

By the way, thank you for the speedy replies! (:

I can try. I will let you know if it does not give me the option to save to the desktop.

Should IE be EXTREMELY laggy? I don't use it, because it's almost impossible. It's so dramatically laggy, it just doesn't seem right :\

Hello

I Would like you to do the following.

This needs to be on the desktop. use IE, firefox just save it to the desktop.

Please print out or make a copy in notpad of any instructions given, as sometimes it is necessary to go offline and you will lose access to them.

Run Combofix:
Please visit this webpage for download links, and instructions for running the tool:

    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/combofix/how-to-use-combofix

Please ensure you read this guide carefully and install the Recovery Console first.

The Windows Recovery Console will allow you to boot up into a special recovery (repair) mode.
This allows us to more easily help you should your computer have a problem after an attempted removal of malware.
It is a simple procedure that will only take a few moments of your time.

Once installed, you should see a blue screen prompt that says:
The Recovery Console was successfully installed.
    Please continue as follows:
    • Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.
    • Click Yes to allow ComboFix to continue scanning for malware.

When the tool is finished, it will produce a report for you.

Please include the report in your next post:

    C:\ComboFix.txt

"information and logs"
In your next post I need the following
