Hello.

Although there is a large number of startup processes, I do not see signs of malware infection. Let's use StartupLite to disable some of them to free up resources.

Download and Run StartupLite
This program will identify and give you the option to remove uneeded startup items to free memory.
  • Download StartupLite.exe by MalwareBytes to your desktop.
  • Double click the icon to start the program. If you are using Windows Vista, right click the icon and select Run As Administrator.
  • A list of uneeded startup entries will be compiled. Leave all the items as Disabled and click Continue.
  • Restart your computer.

Please then post a fresh DDS log and tell me if performance has improved.

With Regards,
The Panda

Hello.

Let's try to find out which process is causing this. When you exprerience the slowdown..

Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to open the Task Manager.
Select the Processes tab.
Looking at the CPU column, note which processes are using high amounts of CPU.

The Panda

i just managed you create a usual lag ( i had only a game opened and ventrilo) and it was running fine for 5 minutes then boom! my computer slowed drastically down , my game and ventrilo froze. i managed to go to task manager and find what had the most cpu and the most mem usage and SYSTEM had the most in both. hopefully this helps. thanks, lemon

Edit : MRT.exe is also eating up some cpu and mem usage

Hello.

Please take a HijackThis log. We can try disabling the startup processes.

Download, Install, and Save Log with HijackThis
  • Download the installer HERE onto your desktop and double click it.
  • You may be asked for confirmation for running an executable file. Select Run.
  • You will be asked choose the install location. Please leave it at the default:
    C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis.
  • Select Install.
  • The installation process should only take a few seconds. A shortcut named HijackThis will be created on your desktop so there will be no need to access the HijackThis program directly. The HijackThis window will pop-up after the installation.
  • Click Do a System Scan and Save a Log File.
  • The scan will complete in a moment and the log will pop-up.
  • Copy the contents of the log into your next post.

With Regards,
The Panda

Hello.

Use HijackThis to Remove Uneeded Startup Entries
Programs that run automatically at startup can take up memory, causing your computer to be slow. Many of these entries are not needed.

Below is a list of entries in your HijackThis log that can be removed safely. Below each entry, you will find a brief description of it. Some are up to preference.

To remove entries you do not want, open HijackThis (if you are using Windows Vista, right click the icon and select Run As Administrator), select "Do a system scan only", put a check mark next to those entries and select "Fix checked".

If you experience any issues after removing any items, use the Backup feature to restore the items.

Hello.

Next time this happens, please let me know which process takes up the CPU. The System Idle Processes should not be counted.

Hello.

That's no problem.
  • Double click the HijackThis icon on your desktop to start the program. If you see a white screen, click Main Menu.
  • Select View the list of Backups.
  • Place a check mark next to the following entries if found:
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Apoint] C:\Program Files\DellTPad\Apoint.exe

  • Click Restore, then Yes.
  • Restart your computer and post a fresh HijackThis log.

Please try to identify which process is causing the slowdown.

With Regards,
The Panda

Hello.

Does the slowness occur when you are not using FireFox still?

plugin-container.exe is a compoment of FF.
