Greetings!

I would be greatful if someone can look at my HJT log and bacically "hold my hand" through the process of cleaning out the garbage that has invaded my computer. I have, as many other people with the same problem, ran Adaware, Norton/Stinger etc. but nothing seems to work.

Thank you ever so kindly!! :thumbsup:

Hello! Welcome to BC!
Its seems that you have a old version of HJT. Please remove it and get the newest version here: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/files/hijackthis.php
Then please come back and post a fresh log for review and fix!
Thanks

Hi makman

Download CWShredder from here
After you download the program, unzip it into a directory.

REBOOT into SafeMode: Starting your computer in Safe mode, use the F8 method

Make sure all browser windows are closed, run cwshredder.exe to start the program and click on the FIX button (not the "Scan only" button) and let it scan your computer.

Reboot normally.

You are running an outdated version of HijackThis.
Please download the latest version of HijackThis!: Download here 1.98.2
Save it in a permanent folder such as c:\hjt, execute HijackThis.exe, and post a new log.

Thank you for your quick response and being there. :thumbsup:

Hi cryo,
I have been following other forums to become familiar with correct procedures:
Question: When I run CWShredder does my computer have to show hidden files or does CWS do it automatically? My apologies for ignorant questions.
Thanks

Are you using XP Home or Pro ? Also go into my computer and right click on the C: drive and tell me if the filesystem is NTFS or FAT32 ?

If you can not see the file make sure you are set to show hidden files and folders:
A. On the Tools menu in Windows Explorer, click Folder Options.
B. Click the View tab.
C. Under Hidden files and folders, click Show hidden files and folders.
D. Uncheck Hide extensions for known filetypes and Hide protected operating system files.

If the file is still not visible:

Launch Notepad, and copy and paste the contents of the quote box below into a new text file.

Save it as file name: unhide.reg . Save as file type: All files (*.*) and save it on your Desktop.

REGEDIT4

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer]
"SearchSystemDirs"=dword:00000001
"SearchHidden"=dword:00000001
"IncludeSubFolders"=dword:00000001

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced]
"Hidden"=dword:00000001
"ShowSuperHidden"=dword:00000001

Then, locate unhide.reg on your Desktop and (double) click on it.
You will receive a prompt similar to: "Do you wish to merge the information into the registry ?".
Answer 'Yes' and wait for a message to appear similar to "Merged Successfully".
