I live in Oakland, California, and work on climate change and sustainability issues. Lately I have gotten very excited about developing new ways of financing green jobs, especially those related to energy efficiency and distributed renewable energy, at the local level. I think I have some creative new approaches that could make it possible for a broke and economically troubled city to create new, permanent green jobs on the order of 15-10% of the total workforce -- roughly 100 times as many jobs as the most ambitious existing program.
Oh, and I’m looking for consulting gigs developing green job programs for particular cities, ideally those with a high rate of foreclosure and/or blight and a high unemployment rate. If you know a nonprofit or government agency that might want to be my client, feel free to connect me. I’d be happy to give an initial presentation, showing four new & innovative financing approaches, at no charge.
That is, if I can ever get back to work, instead of fiddling with my #$%&*!! computers, both of which are infected with at least one rootkit and multiple viruses.
