Hi everyone, well I think there's no way to fix my laptop but hopefully someone here may have some experience with this. All I did was shutdown my laptop and go out, when I came back home later that night, I powered up my laptop and just before the login screen I get a black screen with the error:

lsass.exe - Application Error
The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000006). Click on OK to terminate the application.

When I click OK, the screen just stays black. I tried loading it up on safe mode, but still the same.

Maybe it's a sign to buy a new laptop? My laptop IS over 5 years old. If my laptop is not fixable, is there a way I can take the HDD out and maybe get all my files that were stored on my laptop, mainly very old pictures.

Thanks.

EDIT: I have an Averatec 4100 Series running Windows XP
