I'm not sure if this is in the right place, but here we go.
I tried to put some new music on my iPod earlier, but when I plugged it in, it wouldn't connect to the laptop. At first, I thought maybe it's itunes so I installed the new version etc but it still won't connect. I then tried various other items that conect through the USB port and those aren't working either.
I have an ADVENT 5431 laptop. Any help would be much appreciated, thank you!

You could try removing the USB controllers via Device Manager...and then rebooting. The USB controllers will automatically reinstall on reboot.

Thanks, but it hasn't worked. Also tried installing latest vista updates etc., still no luck.
