hello Everyone,

I want to upgrade my old hard drive because I think my old one is on the way out.

Is there a way to copy everything from one drive to another so I don't have to go through the process of installing the operating system and all the applications from scratch?

Thank you

Most hard drive manufactures provide software so you can move your windows from the old drive to the new drive. What brand name and model number is the new drive? (this info will help us help you get the software to do this from the manufacture)

Additionally...there are programs which will allow a partition/drive to be cloned (exact copy) to another drive/partition.

I just finished doing this with one of my systems' XP partition, using Easeus Partition Master. (which is free).

EASEUS Partition Master Home Edition freeware. - http://www.partition-tool.com/personal.htm

Whatever program is used...please read all instructions before beginning.

Easeus software will do the job well. Seagate and Western Digital both provide software from Acronis for their customers to clone to the new drive
