Hello! I'm really not sure what I'm infected with.

It all started with the antivir solution pro "virus". I was running Avast antivirus and ran a scan. I then followed the instructions in the removal guide. I ran rkill and malwarebytes. When I did all of that I restarted and found that I the computer was stuck in an endless loop of restarting as soon as it got to the desktop screen.

I then tried to restart in safe mode with networking and normal safe mode and the computer was stuck on the boot process. All I saw was a bunch of white text on a black background. I then looked online for solutions and then ran a repair of XP. This let me at least get back on safe mode and safe mode with networking but I can only run Firefox.

I then did the defogger, ran the dds tool and saved the logs. When I tried to run the GMER program it would start to run then I would quickly get the blue screen of death.

Please help!!! I would like to save all that I have but am quickly running out of options!

Thanks!
Heather

Hello,

I realize you're all very busy, but I was just wondering how long before I could expect some help. It's been almost a week since I posted....

Thanks.

EDIT: Please be patient. There are over 500 unanswered topics in this forum at present and the current average wait time to receive help is over 7 days. ~BP

Hello and Welcome to the forums!

My name is Gringo and I'll be glad to help you with your computer problems.

Somethings to remember while we are working together.
  1. Do not run any other tool untill instructed to do so!
  2. Please Do not Attach logs or put in code boxes.
  3. Tell me about any problems that have occurred during the fix.
  4. Tell me of any other symptoms you may be having as these can help also.
  5. Do not run anything while running a fix.

In the upper right hand corner of the topic you will see a button called Options. If you click on this in the drop-down menu you can choose Track this topic. By doing this and then choosing Immediate E-Mail notification and then clicking on Proceed you will be advised when we respond to your topic and facilitate the cleaning of your machine.

We apologize for the delay in responding to your request for help. Here at Bleeping Computer we get overwhelmed at times, and we are trying our best to keep up. Please note that your topic was not intentionally overlooked. Our mission is to help everyone in need, but sometimes it takes just a little longer to get to every request for help. No one is ignored here.

In order for me to see the status of the infection I will need a new set of logs to start with.

Sorry, you can close the thread. Because it took so long for someone to reply to my post. I ended up doing a reinstall. I realize that you are all very busy but it took 10 days for a response. When you depend on your computer and rely on people such as yourselves for advice 10 days is a lonnnnnggg time.

By the way...I've also found out that malwarebytes is useless in removing the newer programs.
