I have been issuing freeze problems since 4-5 mounths very annoying and im glad to have found a website that i hope can help. Anyway i have 3 EA games all work fine till it freezers  i found out that it is not just games though it also freezers when i go online occasionally (online games, video clips) and the odd time it would just lock up whenrunning a programme. I have tryed a lot of stuff like up dating my driver for y graphics card (ATI 9550).However my computer was custom made so i have an usus motherboard A7V880 and a ATI radeon 9550 (like i said).I have updated my ati no difference.not my asus though.will i need to update that as well. I have also tryed the simple methods like disk defragment, disk clean-up,disk,error.also i have searched for spyware, adware, trojan, viruses etc in certian locations and even used safe mode and searched for viruses. I do not need any more memory as i contacted my manufacturing company and they siad i still have a good amount left. I have the latest directx 9.0c.Which comes with the game anyway and it still crashes can anybody tell me what to do there are some games i really want especially in the coming future but it is pointless me buying them if they keep freezing. If people have seen my other problem that is in the windows XP forum. about 'gr33n.exe.' could it be related to that in anyway?

Thanks a lot (and to some again) F4R7TZ. :flowers:

How much RAM do you have (your video RAM looks fine)?
Have you killed unnecessary programs running in the background when you play these games?
Which games are freezing?
gr33n.exe is added by a worm:

Might be hardware issues. Have a go with Everest and see what it says on the Sensor part. Might list your hardware while your at it.

In Everest, click Computer, then Sensor, and post the information from there here to the forum.

Temps and voltages all look within reason.

You mentioned your motherboard and graphics card already, so you could list the rest of your specs: CPU, power supply, hard-drives, soundcard, OS.

You should be able to find what you don't know in Everest under Computer/Summary.

Here is an article about running The Sims 2, and what hardware you need for what (Taken from Izzy's Sims 2 topic).

Did you try Johns recommendation to turn off background processes? It is possible you've got a conflict somewhere.

You can also try to run Sims 2 without sound and in window mode to see if it helps. Do it by going to your Sims 2 shortcut, right-click it and select properties. In the end of the Target line add a space and then "-w -nosound" without the quotes.

What was your OS again?

SIMS2, etc., seems to have, from what I have read in other posts here, a lot of performance problems; I have not seen any real answer. I can suggest some things to do that MIGHT help.
1. Completely uninstall the game and expansion packs. The defrag your computer, and reinstall the game in sequential order. Be sure you also reinstall any updates/patches that have been provided. Defrag at the end of the process.
2. Check to make sure you have installed the latest video card drivers offered by the manufacturer.
3. You can close any unneeded programs on your task bar, but there may be other snippets running that are not shown there (Firefox or Office quick launches come to mind). Note: if you have Spybot loaded on your hard drive, it has a startup application manager in its Tools section that you can use to prevent applications running in the background. If you have a question about killing something, refer to BC's Startup Database which will tell you whether you need it or not. This will improve computer performance for many tasks in additon to gaming.
4. Most games have video and audio options. Start these on the lowest settings ("best performance"), and see if reducing the graphics demand will make a difference. If it does, you can experiment by increasing the settings bit by bit until you begin to crash.
5. If there are user forums on the SIMS2 site, it might repay reading some of the threads that discuss game performance.
6. Reboot your computer before playing.
Hope this will help some,
Regards,
John
