After struggling with a system error i formatted my computer and reinstalled XP using an old service pack 2 disc i had. Now although it runs fine i cannot connect to the internet nor does windows media player have sound.

My cambridge speakers are connected but not showing any response. I am set up with charter internet but the Ubee router and Arris Modem aren't providing my computer with a connection.

i used the freeware driver doctor to try to get my drivers back but even that didn't help

I'm at a loss and i would love some help if you have any ideas about this problem please post and try to help me solve it.

http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss...ocid=MIGR-60651, all drivers for that system.

Go to Device Manager (Start/Run...type devmgmt.msc and hit Enter0 and install the drivers from the above link for any device reflecting a yellow mark beside it.

In particular install the appropriate drivers listed above for Audio and Networking.

no effect, the only yellow marks are under "other devices" which include an unknown pci device and an "unknown device"

do you have wifi on your computer??? if yes maybe its your wifi that give you a limited or no connectivity message and that mean you position are near with access point (hotspot)...

no effect, the only yellow marks are under "other devices" which include an unknown pci device and an "unknown device"

does this mean you doesnt installed modem (unknown pci device)...
and maybe...just maybe...you still have an unknown deviec (maybe this is your sound driver)

can you provide a printscreen or picture of your device manager...just to make sure
sorry I cant see what in you desktop...

To answer your first question, i believe after using device doctor they set my network adapter to whatever was default ( i never used it) and for obvious reasons that doesnt work and i'll have the device manager in a few seconds but no i don't have wifi for that computer.

do you have ms paint???
if you use XP you will have it except if uninstall it...

if you still have paint you can simply press print screen on your keyboard and paste it on ms paint and save it as jpeg image...
