Sony VGCJS320J

E5200 processor

Sony disables something in the BIOS that prevents the Intel Speedstep being used.

Is there any that can be done to enable the BIOS feature that will allow the use of the Intel Speedstep.

Hello and welcome to Bleepingcomputer.

I have seen your post has gone unanswered so I have decided to answer it with some information I have found that may help you answer your problem, it may also get others to offer some useful advice as well.

This link is to Intel's web site regarding the Intel Speed Step technology.

http://www.intel.com/cd/channel/reseller/a.../eng/203838.htm

Here is more information from wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SpeedStep

And yet another helpful link from Intel ftp://download.intel.com/design/network/papers/30117401.pdf

Please be advised I plan to research the Sony web site next and the E5200 processor you are presently using, I want to make sure I know the correct abilities of both pieces of hardware before I post recommendations based on an educated guess.

Kind regards.

Bruce.
