I use Windows XP and browse with Mozilla Firefox 3.6. At random times, Firefox will switch over to different websites without me doing anything. They usually involve surveys or searches. Also, when doing a Google search, clicking on links from the list will take me to one of several online search engines where the search topic is the same thing I just searched for.

I've run Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, SuperAntispyware , AdAware, Windows Defender, Dr. Web Cureit, as well as tried reinstalling Firefox. All the anti-spyware programs came up with a result here or there, and when I "removed" them and rebooted, I still had the same problem. On a hunch, I ran Internet Explorer (which I never use) and had the exact same problem with searches.

UPDATE: After reading how many other people were having the same problem, I also followed Steps 6-9, however after preparing my post with the requested attachments, my browser is not letting me connect and post it. I'm getting a "The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading" error

The power of accurate observation is commonly called cynicism by those who haven't got it.
