About 2 weeks ago, I started having trouble with my computer, where every time I opened Internet Explorer, my CPU usage would jump to 100% and stay there. At the same time, I noticed that there were two persistent copies of msiexec.exe file in my Task Manager, which would not go away. Even when I ran deleted them in TM, they would come right back.
I ran Spybot S&D, Malwarebytes, PC Matic and none of them worked. Then, based on a recommendation from an expert at Experts Exchange, I ran ComboFix in SafeMode and that seemed to resolve the IE problem, but as soon as I rebooted, the msiexec.exe files showed back up in my Task Manager. I was ignoring that problem as it really was not a nusiance until I tried to install some new software last night and got the "Windows Installer service is not available ...." message (attached). I found that this is generally because msiexec.exe is already running, but since I cannot delete those two processes, I cannot install new software. I am attaching the ComboFix log and would greatly appreciate any help someone here can provide.
