I have two icons on my start bar which are flashing computer screens i know they mean im conneted to the internet one says im connected local area lan the other icon says im connected by a gateway . if i disable the gateway i get cut off from the internet so i have to enable it again. if i do a system restore the gateway goes away and im left with my lan setting which is my phone line setting is. if i restart the computer the gateway reapears anybody got any ideas ????.

The gateway is how your internet is setup. This is common with DSL offerings in most areas. It does not affect anything and should be left on.
