Can't connect to wireless router

I just installed installed a fresh windows vista, and for some reason when I disable WPA key and let it freely open in the router, it connects, but when I enable WPA pre shared key it immediately fails to connect.

did you enable WPA and enter the passphrase in the computer? and the router?
