i work at a library with a hand full of computers that have Vista. we have 2 different logins... one for the admin. and another for patrons. the problem i'm running across it that the patron side of things is acting up. i can't change any of the settings that require the password from the administrator and quite a few of the regular functions aren't acting properly like the antivirus and claiming that we don't have an internet connection although IE still goes online. When i switch to the admin side of things, i get a black screen with just a mouse. I started the task manager but couldn't get it to start any task through it.

I had another computer start showing some of the same issues yesterday and would like some help to stop this before i have all of them go down.

With the information you have provided I believe you will need help from the malware removal team. I would like you to start a new thread and post a DDS log HERE and include a link to this thread. Please make sure that you read the information about getting started before you start your thread.

It would be helpful if you post a note here once you have completed the steps in the guide and have started your topic in malware removal. Good luck and be patient. Help is on the way!
