Hey guys, I realize this is my first post but I am so confused and I can't find anything anywhere, I'm a little desperate.

I work as an IT specialist at a company and one of the ladies downstairs is having a problem with certain Excel files. When she tries to open up one of a few different files they will literally take 10 minutes to open, all the others open fine.

Here's some background info: It is a Windows XP Pro computer running Office 2003. This file works fine on different machines with the same and different users. On her machine I copied the file to her desktop and it opens fine but when I put it back on the network it takes forever. Others can open it fine from the network though.

I have also tried repairing Office and uninstalling and reinstalling all to no avail. Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks in advanced.

Hi

Does the file have any permission or security restrictions on it?

It is restricted to certain groups with Microsoft's Active Directory but we have checked and she is part of the correct groups.

Hello

What is the loading time for another user logged onto that computer accessing the same file?

Thanks

It is just like any other file, just the seconds that it takes to open Excel.

Anyone have any ideas?

This has now just started happening to another user at another plant on a different spreadsheet. Opens fine for everyone else and has opened fine for this individual until today.

Hi

There seems to be a problem with the user's security settings. Something is conflicting and the pc is going around in circles, hence the long loading time.

Cheers
TKP
