Hi,

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide and your time.

From what I can tell the issue started on July 19th, when Malwarebytes active protection stopped the following from executing:

C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Local Settings\Temp\neawxsrcom.tmp Trojan.Downloader QUARANTINE
C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Local Settings\Temp\mroewacnsx.tmp Trojan.VirTool.Gen QUARANTINE
C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Local Settings\Temp\mrosewxanc.tmp Trojan.Dropper QUARANTINE

After that the first odd thing I noticed was that once in a while my top two Google results would get redirected to some odd URL.

Then I noted Malwarebytes trying to stop a connection to 213.163.89.104 every 3-5 minutes, and finally despite Malwarebytes once in a while a Popup would make its way through (albeit Malwarebytes seems to be able to prevent the site from loading so far).

What I've done so far:

Ran a full Malwarebytes scan which removed:
C:\WINDOWS\Temp\10C.tmp (Rootkit.Dropper) -> Delete on reboot.
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Zugo (Adware.Zugo) -> Quarantined and deleted successfully.

That seemed to stop the link Hijacking but the constant attempts to connect to the IP above and the odd Popup continue to occur.

Further Malwarebytes scans report clean.

I sort of broke the rules, but as I was reading around about the issue I came accross Combofix and tried it. It removed:
c:\documents and settings\Owner\Application Data\inst.exe

But that did not seem to resolve the issue with the attempts to reach the IP above and the odd Popup (I have the log from that run if it comes in handy)

I then tried SuperAntiSpyware which found and removed:
Trojan.CWS/HWY
HKU\S-1-5-21-854245398-1935655697-725345543-1003\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Ext\Stats\{669695BC-A811-4A9D-8CDF-BA8C795F261C}
HKCR\CLSID\{669695BC-A811-4A9D-8CDF-BA8C795F261C}
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Extensions\{669695BC-A811-4A9D-8CDF-BA8C795F261C}

However the issue persists. I have since ran further full scans with AVG, Malwarebytes, SyperAntiSpyware and Quick Scans with CounterSpy in both Normal and Safe mode...and they report clean. I also tried TDSSKiller which did not seem to find anything.

As far as the Malware/Spyware goes:
-It primarily seems to attempt to access 213.163.89.104 (but once in a while also .105, .106, .107 and .108) and 61.61.20.132/61.61.20.135
-From doing a bit of network monitoring it appears to be using ports in the 2000 range to attempt to connect and the target site is zl091kha644.com ...
-Attempts seem to pickup when I fire up Explorer or Firefox
-Interesting Sidenote: About 48 hours after my laptop developed this issue, a second laptop in the house (sharing same Wireless and Home Network) developed the same issue (similar progression too...Malwarebytes stopped something from executing, link Hijacking, attempts to connect to the same IP occured). After running similar barrage of AntiSpyware there (but not Combofix) when I ran TDSSKiller on that laptop it identified a mouclass.sys file ... post restart after that the issue on that laptop seems resolved.

Hello and Welcome to the forums!

My name is Gringo and I'll be glad to help you with your computer problems.

Somethings to remember while we are working together.
  1. Do not run any other tool untill instructed to do so!
  2. Please Do not Attach logs or put in code boxes.
  3. Tell me about any problems that have occurred during the fix.
  4. Tell me of any other symptoms you may be having as these can help also.
  5. Do not run anything while running a fix.

In the upper right hand corner of the topic you will see a button called Options. If you click on this in the drop-down menu you can choose Track this topic. By doing this and then choosing Immediate E-Mail notification and then clicking on Proceed you will be advised when we respond to your topic and facilitate the cleaning of your machine.

We apologize for the delay in responding to your request for help. Here at Bleeping Computer we get overwhelmed at times, and we are trying our best to keep up. Please note that your topic was not intentionally overlooked. Our mission is to help everyone in need, but sometimes it takes just a little longer to get to every request for help. No one is ignored here.

In order for me to see the status of the infection I will need a new set of logs to start with.

Please print out or make a copy in notpad of any instructions given, as sometimes it is necessary to go offline and you will lose access to them.

DeFogger:
    Please download DeFogger to your desktop.

    Double click DeFogger to run the tool.
    • The application window will appear
    • Click the Disable button to disable your CD Emulation drivers
    • Click Yes to continue
    • A 'Finished!' message will appear
    • Click OK
    • DeFogger may ask you to reboot the machine, if it does - click OK
    Do not re-enable these drivers until otherwise instructed.

Download DDS:
    Please download DDS by sUBs from one of the links below and save it to your desktop:

    Download DDS and save it to your desktop

    Link1
    Link2
    Link3

    Please disable any anti-malware program that will block scripts from running before running DDS.
    • Double-Click on dds.scr and a command window will appear. This is normal.
    • Shortly after two logs will appear:
      • DDS.txt
      • Attach.txt
    • A window will open instructing you save & post the logs
    • Save the logs to a convenient place such as your desktop
    • Copy the contents of both logs & post in your next reply

Scan With RKUnHooker
