Hi s14lenny,

Run HijackThis, click on "Scan" and check the boxes next to all these items.

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {00DBDAC8-4691-4797-8E6A-7C6AB89BC441} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\jkkli.dll

O20 - Winlogon Notify: jkkli - C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\jkkli.dll

Then close all windows, and browsers, except HijackThis. Tell HijackThis to "Fix checked".

Restart your computer in Safe Mode. How do I Safe Boot my computer?

Show hidden files. How do I show hidden files?
At the end if the fix you can return the files to hidden status if you want.

Delete the following files in red (it could be that they are deleted already):

C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\jkkli.dll

Restart your computer and post a new log in this thread.

Hi s14lenny,

Run Spybot-S&D. Go to the Mode menu, and make sure "Advanced Mode" is selected. On the left hand side, choose Tools -> Resident and uncheck "Resident TeaTimer" and OK any prompts. Restart your computer.

Run HijackThis, click on "Scan" and check the boxes next to all these items.

O2 - BHO: MSEvents Object - {FC148228-87E1-4D00-AC06-58DCAA52A4D1} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\pmkjj.dll

O20 - Winlogon Notify: pmkjj - C:\WINDOWS\system32\pmkjj.dll

Then close all windows, and browsers, except HijackThis. Tell HijackThis to "Fix checked". Restart your computer and post a new log in this thread.

Hi s14lenny,

this is what I already expected... You have been reinfected. First we are going to see if we can find the root to the reinfection.

Please create a list of programs that can be removed using Add/Remove Programs
Start HiJackThis. Click "Config"->"Misc Tools"->"Open Uninstall Manager" ->"Save List".
Save the log to a convenient location, and copy it into this thread.

Winfixer you should be able to uninstall from Add/Remove Programs.

Hi s14lenny,

You are using LimeWire. This is not technically malware by itself, but it installs malware in order to run properly and it opens the door for every other nasty program you can think of. I strongly recommend that you remove it. Read this article for alternatives that will provide some of the same function without the garbage: http://www.spywareinfo.com/articles/p2p/ If you opt to remove it, first use "Add/Remove Program" to remove it and any reference to LimeWire.
This is another article: http://www.cexx.org/adware.htm

Open "Add/Remove Programs" in the Control Panel. Select the following items:
  • Need2Find Bar
and click "Remove" for each of them. If one of the uninstallers wants to download stuff or needs an Internet connection, skip that one and report them to me.

To use RootKit Revealer please make sure you are logged in as an Administrator to the computer.

1. Please download and unzip Rootkit Revealer to your desktop.[/b]

2. Please leave the defaults set as they are to:
* Hide NTFS Metadata Files: this option is on by default
* Scan Registry: this option is on by default.

3. launch rootkit revealer on the system and press the Scan button.
RootkitRevealer scans the system reporting its actions in a status area at the bottom of its window and noting discrepancies in the output list. It may take a long time please disconnect from the internet and leave the PC to be scanned until it is finished.

4. The log can be very large please edit out the items in the following folders in the log : C:\RECYCLER\NPROTECT and C:\System Volume Information, if in the log, before posting it.

5. Please post the balance of the log here in this thread using Add Reply (please double check that it has all been posted as it may be too long for one post)

Also post a new log from HijackThis.

Hi s14lenny,

Please download GetService.zip
Extract it to a new folder in the desktop. Double click on the Getservice.bat file to run it. This will create and open a text file named getservice.txt in the same folder. It will then open getservice.txt for you.
getservice.txt will list all active Services. Copy and paste the contents of getservice.txt in your next reply here.

Wondering what that percess service thingy is...

Also, go to Online malware scan and submit C:\WINDOWS\system32\mllund3d.exe.

Tell me the result.

Do the same for this one... C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\mnmcessr.sys.

Hi s14lenny,

I think you are dealing with a brand spanking new infection. That is what keeps you from doing things.

Restart your computer in Safe Mode. How do I Safe Boot my computer?

Show hidden files. How do I show hidden files?
At the end if the fix you can return the files to hidden status if you want.

Can you see the files? If so, get them scanned at Online malware scan.

As I am going on vacation in I will be pressed for time to handle your log. I will ask around to get a good replacement for me. Just so you know...

Hello,
I am taing this over, Because Bobbi is going on holiday.

Let's deal with apropos first..

Please download AproposFix from here:
http://swandog46.geekstogo.com/aproposfix.exe

Save it to your desktop but do NOT run it yet.

Then please reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following:
1) Restart your computer
2) After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.
3) Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear
4) Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode.

It is really important this has to be performed in safe mode!!

Once in Safe Mode, please double-click aproposfix.exe.
This will create a new folder on your desktop called aproposfix.
Open the aproposfix folder on your desktop and run RunThis.bat. Follow the prompts.

When the tool is finished, please reboot back into normal mode, and post a new HijackThis log, along with the entire contents of the log.txt file in the aproposfix folder.
